I was chatting with a friend last night about the belief systems that are at war right now. Yes I am talking about Muslims and Christianity. I was saying that in the end we will all be surprised who is sitting next to us on the long journey, and shocked as to which bus we end up on. The problem is that too many are ready to condemn and denounce others. Marcus reminded me about the Bible saying “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.”^{John 8:7} It’s true. We are not to judge lest we ourselves be judged with that same measure^{Luke 6:36-38}. Discernment and judgment are two entirely different things. Many get swept up into it and call judging discernment. They are no better than the Pharisees that Jesus called out on so many occasions.

How do we know the difference between discernment and judgment?

1 Kings 3:9
Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

Ask for help. That’s how you get discernment. The meaning of discernment is^{dictionary.com}:

1. To perceive with the eyes or intellect; detect.
2. To recognize or comprehend mentally.
3. To perceive or recognize as being different or distinct; distinguish. See

The argument is then that the Bible says that in the end we will even judge the angels^{1 Corinthians 6:2-4}. This is a different kind of judgment. In context, Paul is speaking about matters between brethren, not Christians judging “sinners”. This is one of the most repeated out of context quotes.

Always look for yourself, think for yourself, pray for yourself …gain wisdom and understanding. The only person you have to make sure is within the will of God is yourself. Everyone is held accountable for their own life.
